The 2003 thriller film, “Runaway Jury”, displays the steps of a civil trial case, corruption of the justice system in The United States and the effects on a trial with a tainted jury. This movie is filled with information on how civil trials are pursued and an intensified look on how important juries are on trial cases. The beginning of the movie starts off with a workplace shooting at stock brokerage firm in the city of New Orleans. A failed day trader shows up at the office and opens fire, with a gun manufactured by Vicksburg Firearms, on his former colleagues. The shooter then kills himself. One of the victims of the shooting was a man with a young child named Henry and wife. The now widowed woman, Celeste Wood, seeks a claim against the gun company, Vicksburg Firearms, stating that the company’s gross negligence led to her husband’s death. Making Celeste Wood the plaintiff and Vicksburg Firearms the defendant. An attorney named Wendell Rohr represents Mrs. Wood. The civil case Celeste Wood V. Vicksburg Firearms then goes to trial.
