Good Will Hunting is a drama film directed by Gus Van Sant that stars Matt Damon, Robin Williams, Ben Affleck, Minnie Driver and Stellan Skarsgard. The story and screenplay were both written by Matt Damon and Ben Affleck. Good Will Hunting was both critical and financial success. Besides it was nominated for nine Academy Rewards in 1997, but only came away with two wins, Robin Williams for Best Supporting Actors and Damon and Affleck for Best Original Screenplay. “Good Will Hunting” is the story of Will Hunting played by Matt Damon. Will is a twenty-year-old man who is a mathematical genius with no formal education. His past does not allow him to be the man that he deserves. Will works as a janitor in one of the best mathematical institution and spends his free time with his friends Chuckie Sullivan (Ben Affleck), Morgan O’Mally (Casey Affleck, Ben’s brother), Billy McBride (Cole Houser). In beginning of the story Professor Gerry Lambeau sets a problem on the chalkboard for his graduate students to solve. Will solves that quickly. Lambeau posts a much more difficult problem. The following day when he is conversing with a colleague, he witnesses Will writing down the perfect solution on the chalkboard, but he runs off. Will meets Skylar (Minnie Driver), a British student and starts a relationship. Just after that he involves in a fighting with a man who had bullied him as a child. A Critical Analysis on the Movie "Good Will Hunting"

In addition to understanding the potential in a person, a mentor needs to have a persistent character that will not give up when the person he or she is mentoring fails to get everything right the first time they interact. In this respect the director of the film Good Will Hunting accurately captures the characteristics of an excellent mentor in the society. Notably, the director of this film manages to bring out the exact characters that any successful mentor need to have in order to leave a lasting impact in the person he or she mentoring. To begin with, he portrays the MIT professor as a person that is dedicated or rather committed to ensuring that Will was able to come to his senses and utilize the talent he had in mathematics.
